The International Day of the Boy Child is celebrated on May 16th every year, and its main focus is on promoting the health and well-being of boys around the world.
The theme for 2024 is “Boys health and well-being”. This day aims to highlight the importance of boys health, both emotional and mental health, as it affects the shaping the lives of boys and empowering them to reach their full potential.
In celebration of International Day of the Boy Child, AWLA Nigeria through its various chapters reached out to young boys secondary schools across various states in Nigeria. Focused on promoting the health and well-being of young boys in, this initiative is a testament to our commitment to fostering a supportive environment where boys can thrive physically, mentally, and emotionally.
AWLA Nigeria, through its dedicated chapters, reached out to young boys to educate and sensitize them about the critical aspects of their health and well-being. Recognizing the unique challenges boys face, our goal is to equip them with the knowledge and resources they need to lead healthy, balanced lives.
Key Activities:
Educational Workshops: Conducting interactive workshops in secondary schools to discuss topics such as Abuse, physical fitness, mental health, and emotional well-being.
Health Talks: Providing basic health tips to ensure boys are aware of their health status and understand the importance of keeping healthy especially through personal hygiene.
Awareness Campaigns: Hosting seminars to raise awareness about issues like bullying, substance abuse, and the importance of seeking help when needed.
Community Engagement: Collaborating with teachers, and parents to create a supportive network that champions the rights and well-being of boys.
Our Reach:
This initiative spans several states, including Lagos, Anambra, Rivers, Enugu, and Delta. By engaging directly with schools and communities, AWLA Nigeria aims to make a meaningful impact on the lives of thousands of young boys, encouraging them to prioritize their health and well-being.
