AWLA NIGERIA, RIVERS STATE BRANCH CELEBRATES THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD

11th day of October every year celebrates the girl child world over.
For this year’s celebration, AWLA Nigeria, Rivers State Branch led by her Coordinator, Gloria Anuri Ohia Amb.P, MCIArb (UK),FICMC with AWLA Nigeria National Welfare Officer 1 (Mrs Monica Akinuli) and AWLA Nigeria South South Coordinator (Mrs Oghenero Emu among other AWLANs who were physically present converged at the Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Oromineke D/Line in Port Harcourt Rivers State to mark the event.

The theme for 2024 celebration Girls’ Vision For The Future was well dissected by an AWLAN who is an old girl of GGSS Oromineke, the Coordinator and various speakers who spoke, took questions and were clearly understood by the students. Those who took part in the question and answer session were rewarded accordingly.

The Principal and School Teachers were not just witnesses to the celebration 🎊, they actively took part by ensuring that the students were thoroughly organized before our arrival and kept the environment clean.

AWLA Rivers in addition to their presentations, gave out Sanitary Pads and AWLA RIVERS latest publication πŸ“š titled My Child My Right .

The gifts is to encourage all the girls to be intentional about sanitary issues and hygienically clean to protect themselves during and after their monthly flow which is a God given gift to every female while the books πŸ“š were presented to improve their library and add to the students knowledge.

The celebration πŸŽ‰ was worth the time spent with the Girls as they had time to ask questions bothering them and they were satisfied with the answers given.

The event was quite a remarkable and memorable one.
