The African Women Lawyers Association (AWLA) Rivers State Branch yesterday, Thursday 14th March 2024 has further actively participated in International Women’s Day (IWD) celebrations by honoring invitations from valued partners.
IWD Activities:
Apart from the market place sensitization on the Rivers State VAPP Law held at Mile 1 and 3 markets and media sensitization on Wave 91.7FM, Rythm 93.7FM and Super FM 93.3FM,
AWLA Rivers honoured invites from her Partners, Entrepreneurs Platform Initiative (EPI) and Center for Gender, Conflict,Niger Delta Women Alliance and Development Studies (CGCDS) UNIPORT.
AWLA Rivers’ Coordinator, Gloria Anuri Ohia Amb.P, MCIArb(UK), led a section of the delegation, with a call women to first inspire themselves and build capacity to be included. In the delegation was Monica Akinuli (AWLA National Welfare 1), Ojinika Igbojionu (AWLA Rivers Welfare 1) among other AWLANS.
Courtesy Calls:
AWLA Rivers further expanded its network through courtesy calls paid to key stakeholders today.

On that delegation was the Assistant Secretary AWLA Rivers, Grace O. Tony-Ogidi MCArb; AWLA Rivers Treasurer, Augusta Chioma Onuh and AWLA Rivers Immediate past Financial Secretary, Clara Oparaocha.
This delegation covered the (CGCDS) event.
AWLA Rivers’ active participation in IWD events and its outreach to stakeholders again, demonstrates its dedication to advancing the rights of women and children in the state.
We look forward to sustained empowerment of women and promotion of gender equality as a fall out of the IWD activities.
